Pulborough Harvest Fair and Pulborough Duck Race handed over a cheque to Sam Copus, the acting head teacher at St Mary’s Primary School, as part of their contribution to the community from any profits made from these community events.

The money will go towards the costumes and staging of next year’s musical, the title of which is still a closely guarded secret.

A highlight for St Mary’s, the musicals always take place in a huge circus tent in the school grounds and involves lots of the children to the entertainment of friends and family.

The event provides a great opportunity for the children to develop their musical and theatrical talent bringing parts of the curriculum to life and enriches their school experience.

The last musical at St Mary’s was Bugsy Malone.

The musicals require great staging and support by the school staff and significant costs for costumes etc.

Malcom and Lesley-Anne both agreed that volunteers were key to making all these things work for the benefit of everybody in the community.

The Pulborough Harvest Fair and the Duck Race both need energetic people to help with these events -if anyone wanted to know what would be involved in volunteering they should call Rob Aylott of Pulborough Community Partnership which runs these events and other community projects on 01798 872823.
