Horsham District Council is aiming to operate services as usual today (12 March 2013) in spite of the current heavy snow and ice in the Horsham District.

The Council’s offices in North Street, Horsham are open as usual, as is The Capitol theatre in Horsham.

All Acorn Plus household refuse and recycling rounds are being collected where possible today, however many minor roads are currently too dangerous to gain access to. Problems are more severe in the south of the district. If Horsham District Council does not collect bins today then please leave them out for collection tomorrow and the Council will do its best to clear all outstanding work.

Horsham District Council is also prioritising its work today to clear snow and ice from pavements and car parks in priority areas and many rural car parks were gritted last night to assist

Users of the Council’s Community Link alarm service along with anyone who is elderly or vulnerable and who is experiencing any problems such as no heating or basic provisions is asked to call Horsham District Council on 01403 215230.

Residents are being asked to check on any elderly or vulnerable neighbours to make sure they are safe and warm, meanwhile anyone who has mobility issues is being advised to take extra care and not venture out if at all possible until the weather conditions improve.

This evening’s ballet performance at The Capitol is still on as planned and patrons are asked to check The Capitol’s website for any updates.

Today’s planned launch of Horsham District Council’s Older Persons’ Directory at Lavinia House in Horsham has been cancelled and a new date will be arranged when possible.

In the event of ongoing severe weather, Horsham District Council’s website and Horsham District Council’s Facebook and Twitter pages are being promoted as the best place to look for the latest information about Horsham District Council services and if any services have had to be suspended.

Alternatively, please call Horsham District Council on 01403 215100.

On the Council’s website the SNOW CODE is also listed, giving advice about how residents and others can best deal with snow and ice.
