It starts on Sunday November 1 and during that time the newly formed group ‘Make Horsham a Living Wage Town’ will be promoting the new rate and encouraging residents and employers to back the campaign.

The group will be manning a market stall in the Carfax on Saturday November 7, members will also be contacting a range of businesses, while students at the College of Richard Collyer are also promoting the Living Wage throughout the week.

David Hide, group co-ordinator, said: “The strength of the group is it’s community base and while it includes members of local political parties, differences of opinions are set to one side as we seek to deliver the group’s objective of first explaining and then persuading employers to sign up and pay all staff nothing less than the Living Wage, which is currently set at £7.85 an hour.”

The newly formed group is excited about getting involved in its first campaign week, and look forward to promoting the benefits of creating sustainable businesses through the paying of the Living Wage.
