Horsham MP Jeremy Quin has been appointed to a Government department overseeing negotiations to leave the European Union, according to national reports.
Mr Quin, who was elected last year and campaigned for the UK to remain in the EU, will serve as a parliamentary private secretary under David Jones, minister of state for the Department for Exiting the European Union.
David Davis is the Secretary of State for the department and sits in Prime Minister Theresa May’s cabinet.
Mr Quin said: “This is the most important decision we have taken as country in a generation. It is a great honour to be asked to become a PPS (parliamentary aide) in the Department, which has such a vital task to perform.”
According to Parliament’s website a PPS is appointed by a minister to be his or her assistant.
