District’s residents snapping up new homes west of town

The West of Horsham Berkeley Homes development is proving popular with Horsham district residents as plans progress for the third phase of building.

Berkeley Homes has outline planning permission for 1,044 houses to be built on land to the east of the A24 and Horsham District councillors recently passed full permission for phase two, totalling 46 units.

HDC has approved the first 196 homes, with some already built and sold.

Janine Leadbeater from Berkeley Homes has said that after the success of the first phase being marketed as ‘Highwood’, the company has been able to press ahead with phase two and is optimistic about having 60 more homes on the market by the end of the year.

She said it had been particularly popular with people in the Horsham area making a case for the fact the district is in need of new homes.

Andrew McPhillips, land and planning director of Berkeley Homes Southern, said they would be submitting a planning application for phase three in December, with public consultation before then.

Ms Leadbeater said: “Highwood is going really well with lots of interest and a few of the residents now moving in in good time for Christmas.”

This week Berkeley Homes submitted an application for part of phase three of the development to Horsham District Council. It comprises of an access ramp from A24 Worthing Road, piazza junction, commercial access road, north/south spine road, levelling groundworks, surface water detention basin 2, BMX track and associated landscape works.
