Date for Warnham and Rusper by-election set

A by-election will be held on Thursday October 24 for the vacant seat on West Sussex County Council of Warnham and Rusper. This follows the sad death of Mick Hodgson late last month after a short battle with cancer.

A statement confirming the nominated candidates’ names will be released after noon on Friday September 27.

Nomination papers for candidates must be delivered to Horsham District Council, Park North, North Street, Horsham, RH12 1RL by noon at the latest on Friday September 27.

Applications to be added to the Register of Electors must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Horsham District Council, Park North, North Street, Horsham, RH12 1RL by 5pm on Wednesday October 9 to be effective for this election.

Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes, and proxy amendments or cancellations, must also reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Horsham District Council, Park North, North Street, Horsham, RH12 1RL by 5pm on Wednesday October 9.

Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Horsham District Council, Park North, North Street, Horsham, RH12 1RL by 5pm on Wednesday October 16.

The by-election polling hours will run from 7am to 10pm on Thursday October 24 and there will be seven polling stations located at Colgate Memorial Hall, Faygate Village Hall, Ifield West Community Centre, Rudgwick Hall, Slinfold Village Hall and Warnham Village Hall.

The by-election results will be declared by midnight on polling day (Thursday October 24) and a copy of the results will be posted on the count venue door, which will be Park Barn in Horsham opposite Horsham District Council offices, and on the elections pages of Horsham District Council’s website.
