In 2017, the club was given permission for six lights around the pitch at the Camping World Community Stadium but installed an extra two, prompting complaints from people living nearby.

During a meeting of Horsham District Council’s planning committee, members gave permission for the extra lights and other changes to the original permission – though some said it was ‘disappointing’ and ‘infuriating’ for the club to do the work before asking permission.

The committee was told that liaison meetings had been started between the club and local residents, one of whom told the meeting that neighbouring homes had been ‘significantly impacted’ by light and noise pollution.

The next liaison meeting is due to be held in November, where the idea of planting trees to screen homes from the glare of the lights will be discussed.
