The authority moved offices in June and is now based in Parkside, in Chart Way, along with West Sussex County Council and now holds its committees in the ground-floor conference rooms.

Although equipment was rented on a temporary basis the council is now set to purchase a new system, which will also allow councillors to vote electronically.

A spokesperson for Horsham District Council said: “The council has not purchased any new equipment since the move to Parkside. When the council moved to Parkside, microphones and accompanying audio equipment were hired on a temporary basis whilst we assessed ongoing requirements.

“New equipment, to include microphones, an electronic voting system and additional audio equipment which meet our requirements and can be used across multiple locations are now being purchased at a cost of £46,485.

“The purchase of this equipment formed part of our business transformation plan to relocate from our old offices to the Parkside site and was factored into this business case.

“The overall office move was completed on time and within budget and has made significant contributions to meeting the budget challenges of both the county council and district council.”
