Developers submitted an application for 550 homes on land east of the A272, but it was rejected in July 2012 by Horsham District Council.

The consortium behind that scheme have appealed the decision, but since then the council has published its draft housing plan for the district for consultation, which includes around 500 homes for Billingshurst.
