Policeman taken in for questioning by students

Having served 35 years in Sussex Police, Mark spoke to students about his varied career. He also explained the various entry requirements, what the job is like on a day-to-day basis and the likely situations an officer would encounter as a member of the police.

In addition, Mark talked about what is available in terms of career opportunities within the force.

He said: “Thank you for the opportunity to engage with such enthusiastic students! It was great to be able to discuss areas of interest and share information on policing, and to encourage others to embark on an exciting and rewarding career path”

Collyer’s Lucy Hargreaves, from the college’s Progression Directorate, organised the session. She said: “Our students enjoyed the event and were interested in listening to what a career in the police force could offer. Mark was excellent.”

Collyer’s Assistant Principal, Melanie Russell was delighted: “Massive thanks to Mark for taking time out of his busy schedule to talk to our students.”

Senior Tutor Ian McAlister said: “Record numbers of students have taken part in progression events run by the college over the course of this year, which is fantastic. This event is another to add to the success story. Huge thanks to Lucy Hargreaves for co-ordinating this outstanding opportunity.”
