Police renew appeal after serious crash near Cowfold

Sussex Police has renewed its appeal for witnesses after a serious crash near Cowfold left a man in a life-threatening condition over the weekend.

Emergency services were called to the crash on the A281, near the junction with Picts Lane, at around 12.45pm on Saturday November 14.

Police said two cars, a BMW and a VW Polo, were involved in the collision and three people were trapped in the vehicles.

A 21-year-old man, who had been a passenger in the BMW 318, was flown to St George’s Hospital, Tooting, London, with life-threatening head injuries by a Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance helicopter.

A 20-year-old woman driving the BMW and a 23-year-old woman driving the VW Polo, were taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with serious injuries. All three were released from vehicles by fire crews.

The road was closed in both directions for more than five hours while the crash was investigated and the scene cleared.
