Housing Association Saxon Weald is currently seeking planning approval for the new homes on land in Pathfield Close.

The site currently has six bungalows on it which are due for demolition because of severe subsidence. Saxon Weald says repairs would not be cost effective at close to £400,000.

Residents of the bungalows have already been re-housed.

Saxon Weald spokesman Stephen Humphreys said: “There are very few shared ownership properties in Rudgwick, so this is a fantastic opportunity to provide something which will help local first-time buyers get a foot on the property ladder.”

A public consultation about the proposed development is taking place today (October 16) at Rudgwick Village Hall from 3pm – 7pm.

The planning application will then be submitted in November and, if granted, building work will start next summer.
