Will Palmer motored to the 2015 Duo BRDC Formula 4 title with a race weekend remaining after taking two victories at the penultimate meeting at Donington Park over the weekend.
The young Southwater driver now has an unassailable lead in the standings with three races remaining, as he took his tally of wins across the year to 10 in Leicestershire over the three races.
He has amassed 507 points in a dominant season with his HHC Motorsport team and lifted the crown in style.
With his brother, Lotus F1 Team third driver Jolyon, watching on, the 18-year-old raced to second place in the first race and took the chequered flag in the second.
This meant he only had to finish ahead of his two nearest rivals, Tom Jackson and team-mate Harri Newey, in the final race to take the 2015 title; he delivered by finishing first and cruising to the championship untroubled.
Palmer said: “I am delighted! It’s amazing after a year of hard work to finally take the crown and it is even better to do it in style, and a round early too.
“Getting my 10th win sums up my season as it has been amazing, especially since Silverstone. I am absolutely delighted that we’ve been able to be as dominant as we have been this year.”
The finale of the season takes place at Brands Hatch on September 26 and 27.
