Vital information to go out to every household in Horsham amid coronavirus pandemic

Horsham District Council is organising the leaflet drop and says it is ‘crucial’ that residents are povided with accurate up-to-date information.

A spokesman said: “With some residents unable to access the internet or engage on social media, Horsham District Council, working in conjunction with West Sussex County Council, has committed to provide residents with information straight to their homes.

“From 20 April, every household will receive a printed leaflet promoting what help is available, who is eligible for help and how to access help, including a phone line which will be manned from 8am to 8pm seven days a week, and a dedicated website with links to vital services.”

Since the start of the pandemic Horsham District Council has worked with community groups and parish and neighbourhood councils to create a district–wide volunteering scheme to target support for those in need.

A total of 27 Community Volunteer Hubs have been set up to distribute food, medicines and essential supplies, as well as volunteers making telephone calls to the vulnerable.

Horsham District Council cabinet member for community matters Tricia Youtan said: “Our plan to distribute vital information to residents has never been more important.

“Ensuring key advice and contacts are delivered to all households is a core priority for us, so that no one misses out on the help they need.

“The Community Volunteer Hubs continue to do a great job in supporting the most vulnerable members of our society, manned by an amazing 1,600 volunteers from around the district.

“As a council we remain extremely thankful to all those giving their time and talents to help people at this extremely worrying time, and are proud to see our whole community pulling together. Please do keep up your good work.”
