Every year in recent times, residents have complained about a nasty odour wafting across the distict - but it is usually late summer when it is at its worst and is normally blamed on farmers muck-spreading.

But this week many paople have complained of a horrible aroma which appears to be at its strongest near the A264 in north Horsham.

It is described as a ‘very strong unpleasant smell’ and like ‘rotten eggs.’

Some have taken to social media to speculate on the cause. Some people maintain that it is the usual ‘country smell’ but others say that it could be sewage works in the area.

Yet others maintain it could be coming from the recycling site in nearby Langhurstwood Road.

The last time complaints were raised about the obnoxious smell was last September when it was again thought to be coming from farm fields.
