Southwater man to run 100 miles in January for charity which supported his family

Despite this being his first experience of running several miles daily, Thomas Bowling is determined to achieve his goal while raising £100 or more for Macmillan Cancer Support along the way.

He said: “At the beginning of November we lost our wonderful grandad after he lost his battle to cancer. He was a solider and never let it bring him down. I also have lost my auntie due to losing her battle with cancer. My nan also is battling cancer.

“So I want to make a difference and try and raise money for a charity that has been there for all of my family. The support they have given is unbelievable.”

Thomas has so far run ten miles and is hoping to average around four miles a day.

He is logging his progress daily through his fundraising page where he has so far raised more than half his total, but hopes more people will donate to the cause.

He said: “Can’t believe we have achieved half my target already!

“Let’s raise as much as we can. As little or as much as you can do it’s highly appreciated even if it’s just sharing my link to a few people.”
