Housing association A2Dominion wants to build the homes on allotment land west of Ravenscroft in Storrington.

It says the site has been identified for development because of its location close to the village centre.

The housing association says the development will include new allotments ‘for new and existing’ plot holders, as well as a dedicated wildlife area.

The homes themselves, it says, would be a mix of one-bad flats to four-bedroomed homes and ‘be made available to local people.’ Thirty five per cent of them would be classed as affordable homes.

The allotment site is currently owned by West Sussex County Council and leased to Storrington Parish Council. A spokesman for A2Dominion said: “We hope to transfer this land and ensure the parish council remains landlords to the allotment holders.”

The housing association says that as the site is in the South Downs National Park ‘any development will be sensitive to the area and the special nature of the national park.’

A2Dominion describes itself as “a housing association with a social purpose. We reinvest 100 per cent of our profits back into creating new homes, maintaining our properties and supporting local communities.

“When we build new homes we stay to manage the site so we have a long term interest in high quality and sustainable developments.”

An online public exhibition of the proposals are being staged on December 2 at 12 noon.
