Their new baby room, funded by the Big Lottery Fund, provides childcare for babies and toddlers from three to 24 months old.

Playgroup manager Karen Fearns said: “We identified a real need for affordable, local childcare for children under two.

“Whilst there are many options within the community for those over two, there are very few affordable options for those under two.”

Baby room supervisor Linda Ede and her team work closely with parents to bring up their children by supporting existing routines and upholding family values.

She said: “We hope that the Baby Room will create opportunities for local women to return to work, safe in the knowledge that their children will be looked after in a safe and nurturing environment.”

Fittleworth Playgroup is a charity and keeps its fees low and invests any profits or funds straight back into the playgroup. For more information, visit www.fittleworthplaygroup.co.uk or call 01798 865777 to arrange a visit.
