The hospital - which treats patients from Crawley and Horsham as well as those in Surrey - is run by the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

And in a survey of national health employees, trust staff rated the organisation fourth best acute trust in the country when asked if they would recommend it as a place to work.

And it was again ranked among the highest scores in the country when staff were asked whether care of patients is the organisation’s top priority.

Staff feedback was among the top scores nationally in the themes of staff engagement, safety culture and team work.

Trust chief executive Michael Wilson said: “I am very proud that our staff rate us among the best in the country.

“Our teams have been through so much this year, so it has never been more important to make the NHS the best place to work.

“We’ve worked hard to support our colleagues throughout the pandemic but we know just how tough it has been.

“That’s why staff welfare is a key priority for us in the months ahead and we will use the results of this survey to make more improvements for our wonderful colleagues.”

As well as running East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust provides a range of services at hospitals in Crawley, Horsham, Caterham and at some Surrey health centres.
