Horsham University of the Third Age (U3A) will be in the town centre on Thursday, June 3 – a day after National U3A Day – to shed a light on the group which currently has more than 650 members.

David Bowyer, committee member of the Horsham U3A said: “We would be delighted if you would visit us there and explore the range of activities available to enjoy.

“Horsham U3A hosts over 40 different activities including art, computer technology, languages, music, photography, table tennis, theatre groups and outdoor activities such as exploring towns and villages, country walks and bird spotting.

“When circumstances permit, we also organise days out by coach and short holidays. Our members have wide ranging experiences in almost all walks of life, so our activity and interest groups function with everyone drawing on the experience and knowledge of each other.

“Again, when circumstances permit, we have general meetings, usually held at the Holbrook Club in Horsham, where a guest speaker or musician entertains us and then there is the chance to catch up with friends afterwards for tea and biscuits.”

There are more than 400,000 U3A members in the UK in more than 1,000 individual U3As in towns and cities across the country, which are charities in their own right and are run entirely by volunteers.
