A yoga and wellbeing studio in Horsham is celebrating one year since it opened.

Iriness Yoga and Wellbeing, in Victoria Street, off New Street, launched in October 2017 as the only dedicated Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga studio in the district as well as a centre of holistic therapies.

To mark the anniversary the club is holding an 8am class for all yoga students followed by a party at 10am on Saturday October 27.

Iriness Yoga and Wellbeing is the brainchild of husband and wife team Patrick and Irina Pashkevich Bourdier.

Irina, joint founder, said: “It has been such a joy and privilege during this first year of Iriness, to share yoga practices with the residents of the Horsham area. I discovered yoga more than 20 years ago and it transformed my perspective on life, my mental state, my physique.”

Ashtanga Vinyasa is a thousands of years old therapeutic yoga practice, which focuses on the synchronicity of mental focus, breathing and movement.

Alongside the daily Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga classes, Iriness’ offers weekly yoga classes for teenagers and restorative yoga for people of all abilities. In addition to the daily educational yoga programmes, Iriness holds well established yoga courses for beginners and experienced practitioners alike, and regularly hosts workshops, presented by internationally renowned yoga teachers.

Iriness has highly experienced therapists. Uschi Martin offers cognitive hypnotherapy and Gemma Fisk is a family and couples psychotherapist. More wellbeing therapies are being added to the studio.

Irina added: “Now I work with students aged from nine to 80 with various abilities and goals; all coming and practising together in our studio, in the search of inner mental peace and development of strong and mobile bodies.

“We hear so many heart-warming stories, how practising yoga on a regular basis helps various physical and mental conditions and makes students more centred, focused and content.

“I have dreamt of hosting a space of yogic peace and wellbeing for years and now, with the help of my husband and the support from our students, I can live my dream. “We are always happy to welcome new students to Iriness and help them find their own way to a healthier and happier living.”

Iriness’ student, Oscar, a graphic designer, said: “I’ve had the pleasure of attending Irina’s classes for four months now and I’d recommend it to anyone interested in improving their overall wellbeing. Irina is a great teacher and she gives everyone the attention they need. The atmosphere of the classes is wonderful and I usually leave calm and energised”.

Iriness’ student, Laura, a private business owner, said: “[A] five star rating is not enough! I joined the beginner course few months ago and I couldn’t expect a better way to be introduced to yoga.

“Irina’s attention to each of us, her passion and experience has been outstanding every single time and the place and the atmosphere is absolutely wonderful. I can’t wait to continue my yoga journey with Irina!”

Iriness’ student, Julia, a lawyer, said: “Iriness is an amazing yoga space right in the centre of Horsham! A haven to go to and practise all elements of yoga, from postural yoga to breathing and meditation. Irina is an amazing teacher - her passion and warmth shine through and with her knowledge she has supported a great improvement in my strength, flexibility and overall wellness.”
