Trip to Portsmouth for primary school

Portsmouth was the destination for children in Years 3 and 4 from Castlewood Primary School at Southwater recently when they visited the Historic Dockyards to help them have a greater understanding of their topic ‘Storms & Shipwrecks’.

The children, staff and parents spent time exploring HMS Victory where they dressed up in naval clothes worn during Admiral Lord Nelson’s time. They learned how to scrub the decks, send messages using naval flags and saw the spot where Nelson died.

Theo, a pupil in Year 3, said: “My favourite part was when we had a go at firing a cannon. It made a huge noise and I had to cover my ears!”
