Town treated to French market and car display

Sunday October 4 quickly became another great day out in Horsham with the Carfax being awoken to the smell of French bread and the sounds of the classic La Mer as the French market arrived to delight the locals with delicacies such as garlic prawns, pastries, charcuterie and crepes.

The great selection was widely appreciated by visitors to the town and this selection was added to as the market was joined by long time Horsham partners the Vintage Fayre which has built up over the last couple of years by combining vintage clothing, gifts, furniture and even a retro caravan serving teas and a 1966 electric milk float turned into a wine and gin bar into a complete retro experience.

Arriving at East Street at midday was the Aston Martin Owners Club making a return visit to Horsham. With a fantastic turnout of 25 Astons from throughout the car maker’s history, they were welcomed by large crowds wanting to hear the sounds of the famous Aston Martin engines.

This year they were joined by a special guest car from the TV show the Persuaders, Roger Moore’s characters very own specially customised DBS.

Jan Dunk, co-ordinator for the Aston Martin Owners club Area 16, said: Wow, what a great day, an absolute pleasure to show Horsham what Aston Martin’s are all about. We have put photos of this event on our website http://www.amoc-area16.co.uk

“We would like to thank the event team at Horsham District Council and the Rotary Club for all of the organisation and the safe parking of the Astons.”

There were also three lucky prize winners who each won a ride in an Aston and tickets to Horsham’s Capitol Theatre to see the new Bond film, with the first prize also winning a meal for two and bottle of wine from Horsham’ STRADA.

Gill Buchanan, Chairman of Horsham Unlimited summarised the event perfectly. She said: “Blessed again with sunshine, this event drew crowds to the town centre and added vibrancy and atmosphere for the benefit of all those business open on Sundays, Horsham Markets are a real strength in the town centre and the addition of their French colleagues and the Aston Martin displays in East Street, Market Square and Carfax created a great destination and showcased all that is great about out the town centre.”
