Talented sports people recognised at awards

The achievements of 25 local young talented sports people were recognised at the Annual Set4Success Award Ceremony at South Lodge Hotel in Lower Beeding on Friday October 23.

The ceremony was compered by TV’s Dave Benson Phillips.

The special guest this year, who presented the awards in front of a packed audience, was local star Jade Lally, UK’s number one discus thrower who is also a patron of the charity.

This year the award winners were Elouise Robb and Hannah Pratchett (Water Polo); Kristina Pavlou, Zack Wake, Jack Thompson and Corlia Robertson ( Judo) ; Daniel Jones (Swimming); Jamie Brown ( Kick Boxing); Henry Lowis (Rugby Official ) ; Isobel Hilliard, Reece Besley and Harry Harrod ( Artistic Gymnastics); Orla Brothers, Jordan Levey, Amy Fitzpatrick and Tamsin Campbell ( Athletics); Elliot Bailey and Daniela Lozzi ( Basketball) ; Ellie Clark (Trampolining ) ; Kate Small ( Trampoline Gymnastics ); Natalie Taylor and Bronwen Thomas ( Football) ; Charlie Brackpool ( Kayaking) ; Erin Marshall( Hockey) ; and Sean Richardson ( Rugby).

We wish them all every success for the future. In total 110 awards have been made since Set4Success started in 2011.

Jade talked to Mike Sutton, member of Set4Success management , on stage about how she got involved with discus, her successes and occasional let downs, and her hopes for Rio which she has been preparing for over the last year, including preparatory training stints in Australia and San Diego.

The local branch of Brighton & Hove Albion Seagulls presented a donation to the charity and expressed their backing for the support offered by Set4Success.

The awards panel meets three times each year, the closing date for the next Panel is Januray 30, 2016.

Set4Success is a charity managed by the Rotary Club of Horsham with the involvement of SportsAid, Horsham District Schools , Horsham District Council, PFP Leisure, and local businesses ATOM, Spofforths, Ringway, Treetop Print & Design and Wakefields Jewellers.
