As part of its Community Charter status Horsham Sparrows is required to have qualified coaches leading each of its teams. A donation from Horsham-based firm Keysource has recently enabled five club members to train to Level One of the Football Association’s training programme over two weekends. A total of 16 candidates completed the course, which was run by FA coach Roger Crouch and held at Southwater Leisure Centre.

In addition to teaching football training techniques the course covers areas such as child welfare and first aid combining both practical and classroom elements. The participants included club volunteers, parents, current coaches and five players from the under-18 girls team. In addition the club generously provided two places to another local team, Horsham Tigers FC.
