Success for Collyer’s in national senior maths competition

Collyer’s students have enjoyed an outstanding showing at the UK Maths Challenge, a competition aimed at 16-19 year olds studying Mathematics at AS and A Level.

The national competition tests the country’s brightest young mathematicians. Students were awarded with certificates during a presentation ceremony in March hosted by Collyer’s Principal, Sally Bromley.

Maths teacher Nick Robins, who co-ordinated the Collyer’s entry, was delighted: “The challenge is highly competitive and prestigious, but it is also a fun way of giving some extra challenge for students and can also lead on to greater things! Well done to all of our students who received certificates today!”

The event also celebrated a number of mathematical achievements over recent weeks, in addition to the gold, silver and bronze awards at the UK Maths Challenge. The presentation of certificates took place in the Quad outside Collyer’s impressive Duckering Hall, where students proudly collected their certificates, reflected upon their achievements and even enjoyed some celebratory cakes!

Collyer’s Principal, Sally Bromley was extremely proud to present the certificates: “We have an excellent mathematics department and these talented students and their teachers have worked really hard to be successful in the UK Maths Challenge. Congratulations to everyone involved and thank-you to Nick Robins for his hard work in organising everything!”
