Hailing from Littlehampton Camera Club, Catherine is a professional Wedding, Portrait and Fashion photographer, and she certainly provided some excellent and useful comments throughout the evening, often about how the image could be brought to life more with a slight crop, or a little work in the post-production.

On a couple of occasions however, she felt that the author had perhaps taken things too far!

Only 13 photographs scored 18 or more, with three 19s from Anne Nagle with her “Salisbury Cathedral Font” taken from an interesting viewpoint making an almost symmetrical image, another from David Burton showing good use of a wide angle lens with his image “Lock Gates”, and finally David Seddon’s image depicting the banks of the Thames at “Low Tide”, with lovely lighting on the water under the bridge. Here Catherine commended the time and effort he had taken with the post-processing. The two twenties were achieved by David Seddon with his intriguing image”’Uniform Squared”, showing a set of criss-crossing escalators at a moment when a group of people in military uniforms were going one way, and a man looking across at them was going in the other direction. The other top score of 20 and Best Image of the night was awarded to Janet Brown with her kitchen still life ‘The Afternoon Meal’ a skillful interpretation by Janet of Luis Melendez’s still life “La Merienda”. How can a couple of loaves and a bit of fruit be made to look so pleasing?
