Rotary awards to Pulborough School for polio posters
Storrington and Pulborough District Rotary Club presented certificates and book tokens to children at St Mary’s C of E Primary School on November 13, following a competition to design a poster for the eradication of polio.
Making the awards, David Tolerton, chairman of the Rotary Club’s International and Foundation committee, congratulated all KS2 children for a very high standard of design and art work.
It was clear that they had researched the subject extensively and were aware of the seriousness of the disease, where it is prevalent and how it can be eradicated. Separate prizes were awarded for computer aided designs and for hand painted designs.
The winners were: 1st prizes – Sean Latter & Kipp Batchelor; 2nd prizes – Jacob Atkinson & Ella-Louise Nelson; 3rd prizes – Oscar Anderson & George Roelich-Scott; Highly Commended - Sasha Tully, Matthew Collins, Bethany Patten and Amy Lock.
A selection of the posters is currently on display as part of a Rotary information display in a Storrington High Street shop window.
The three photographs show: the two winners of the 1st prizes; the six successful prize winners with the headmistress, Mrs Heath and David Tolerton; all ten prize winners and Highly Commended students.
