Remarkable International Baccalaureate Diploma results

IB students can score a maximum of 45 points. Four Christ’s Hospital students scored 40 points or more. They were Henner Petin, from Germany (pictured), with a score of 43, George Manning, from Horsham, with 42, Sicily Fiennes from London, with 41 and Megan Tranter, also from Horsham, with 40.

Christ’s Hospital students from this cohort have gained places at Oxford, Durham, Warwick, Southampton, Birmingham, King’s College London, UCL, Reading, Queen Mary’s and at the Charles University in Prague.

The impressive range of subjects they will be studying range from Medicine, Engineering, Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE), International Relations, Psychology, Classics, English, History, Archaeology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and International Football Business at Wembley.

“I congratulate our students and their teachers on another superb set of IB results” says Christ’s Hospital Head Master, John Franklin: “The breadth and academic rigour of the International Baccalaureate is now widely regarded as an outstanding preparation for study at university and beyond. Our Year 13 leavers take with them the confidence and the skills that they will need to achieve success in the future.”

With the IB Diploma Programme students must choose one subject from each of five groups, ensuring breadth of knowledge and understanding in their best language, an additional language, the social sciences, the experimental sciences and maths. At least three subjects are taken at higher level, while the other subjects are taken at standard level. They also have the opportunity to study Visual Art, Music or Theatre.

Dr Andrew Wines, IB Co-ordinator at Christ’s Hospital, added: “these outstanding results recognise the expert and dedicated teaching our students receive alongside exceptional pastoral care. Three of this year’s IB students have faced difficult and challenging circumstances in their lives. It is testament to their hard work and to the care and devotion of the staff at Christ’s Hospital that all three of them have gained top results and places at the University of their choice; we wish them well.”
