MP visits Henfield for village evening

Hundreds of people were at Henfield Hall with MP Nick Herbert on Friday evening when around 40 voluntary organisations took part in a village evening.

The four-yearly event, organised by the parish council, was packed with visitors finding out about the work of volunteer groups.

Nick Herbert said: “This has been an outstanding and well-attended event which highlights the hard work of volunteers in this thriving community.”

Parish council chairman Ray Osgood said: “It’s always heartwarming to discover how many hundreds of people are working for charities and for village projects.”

Among the stands were HART (Henfield Area Response Team), Friends of St. Barnabas, Henfield Theatre Company, Henfield Lions, the BP Guild, Youth Club, Christian Aid, British Red Cross, Leisure Centre, Scouts, Guides, church groups and many more.

Craft group demonstrations took place and wildlife conservation groups showed their project work in action.

Tony Jackson, chairman of Henfield Community Partnership, said: “Henfield Village Evening shows that community spirit really does exist and what hard work volunteers do to make this a better village for everyone.”
