More café’s help charity ‘Spread The Warmth’

Age UK Horsham District’s ‘Spread The Warmth’ campaign which launched at the start of November encourages the community to raise funds to support older people during winter. Cafes and restaurants are taking part by raising money from their warming products in order to support local vulnerable people during the colder months.

Through January & February, two new establishments will be raising funds to help support older peoples as part of the campaign. The Steyning Tea Rooms offers a range of homemade soups during the colder season. For each bowl customers’ buy to warm themselves up till the end of February, they’ll donate 50p to help keep an older person warm in the community.

During the same 2 month period, The Merrythought Restaurant in Horsham will also be donating 50p for each of their daily specials helping to make sure that local older people have the support they require in the colder months.

Last month The White Horse Smokehouse & Grill raised money with their ‘hot cocktails’ and The REAL eating Co. raised over £500 by donating 5p from each hot drink they sold. Throughout January they are also offering a free teacake with each tea or coffee Mon-Fri between 4-5pm as a New Year treat.

All funds raised will be used to support older people in Horsham district as part of Age UK Horsham District’s ‘Spread The Warmth’ campaign. Friday 7th February will be ‘Bobble Day’ where members of the community are encouraged to buy a woolly bobble to wear and do something warming to raise money.
