Lilia crowned Princess for Ashington Carnival

The atmosphere at the disco was terrific due to the large turnout of children who enjoyed dances and competitions, even the parents joined in!

This year’s Carnival Princess is nine year old Lilia Simpson who was crowned by 2014 Princess Daisy Richardson. Lilia will lead the procession at the Ashington Festival on the 15th of August supported by 2 attendants and 2 pageboys.

The Carnival Princess’ two Attendants are Daisy Wait and Evie Scovell (both aged 5). The Pageboys are Matthew Roberts (5) and Luke English (6). The children were all chosen by lucky draw.

The Carnival procession starts at 1.30 and follows a route through Ashington village to finish on the Recreation Ground.

The Festival which follows includes a stage/arena with live acts performing through the afternoon and evening, in the evening is the fabulous tribute act Michael Jackson “Triumph” and the Absolute 70’s & 80’s band playing all the greatest hits from those decades.

In the afternoon is a daredevil motorcycle act and a breath taking Wild West Show. Also back by popular demand will be children’s entertainer Tom Foolery.

There will also be a Car Boot Sale, Classic Cars, Flower Show, Fun Dog Show, Funfair, animals and lots of stalls and sideshows. And in the evening a fantastic firework display at 10pm.
