LETTER: What happened to Happy Horsham?

I seem to recall that some time ago Horsham was described as one of the places in the country in which the inhabitants were happy with their lot.

This appears to have changed considerably with your letters column full with complaints about the loss of the indoor bowling club, the site of the Horsham FC football ground, the flight path in and out of Gatwick Airport, the antics of the local councillors and the massive housing developments taking place.

Only one matter lightened the mood and that was the teachers at Millais School refusing to go on strike last week in support of their traumatised pupils following the fire at the school. Well done ladies and gentlemen. However, one of their statements regarding the fallout of teachers from the profession due to poor working conditions marred the mood.
