LETTER: Time for council to play fair

We have sent emails. We have written letters and had press coverage. BBC South Today featured our plight.

Hundreds turned out for our protest march.

We have collected signatures on petitions. At the time of writing I have been told we have around 2,000 signatures, final numbers yet to be confirmed.

We have protested with passion. We have laid out the facts and used logical argument to augment our case.

We are the members of Horsham District Indoor Bowls Club.

Horsham District Council reneged on promises and now propose to destroy our club. All we ask is a replacement facility that allows our club to continue. HDC say the idea of four rinks or an ice rink is just a proposal. We need at least six rinks to run a club. What happened to the proposal that became an agreement for six rinks?

Many people cannot play outdoor bowls as the physical effort is more, and it can mean many hours in the sun which is not possible for some, myself included. And it is only played during the summer months. Indoor bowls is played all year and provides exercise and competition. But all this, and more, has already been said.

Come on HDC. Especially Mr Chowan. It is time to play fair. Or even to play. At least if you tried our sport you would have a better understanding of what is involved, and perhaps how a bowls club is run.
