LETTER: No notice taken of residents’ views

What on earth are Planning up to, contemplating more houses to be built in Southwater? Two large developments well underway - not yet completed, smaller one completed and now Berkeley Homes wanting to add more than 500-plus - yes 500-plus - new homes to an already bursting at the seams village.

I went along (with many many others) to the Berkeley Homes planning display at Beeson House on Friday 28 February.

Berkeley staff couldn’t answer the very concerning questions that residents of Southwater had - Planning weren’t present (as always) - so you had the Berkeley staff struggling to answer the very serious questions that people were asking.

We want answers to: schools, where are children going to go - infant, junior and senior schools in the county by September will all be at bursting point.

The Worthing Road through Southwater, is already grid locked in the mornings, especially around the school areas, and the queuing to get onto the A24 at both ends of the village at rush hour is always bad.

With a possible 1,000 more cars trying to get out of the village along this road will be a nightmare and dangerous.

Parking in the village? Shops, doctors, dentist etc, all small - catering for VILLAGE life - which will sadly be a TOWN at this rate.

We want answers - who is in charge?

Have you all noticed how all the trees are being chopped down everywhere - to make way for developments (especially on the A24) approaching Tesco - it’s not only sad, but very stressful for people who live in Southwater, Horsham and surrounding areas - driving all the wildlife out and turning the fields into a concrete maze jungle!

Thousands of new homes, but no infrastructure in place. Why do Planning NOT attend these kind of meetings to answer questions - it was the same at the Bovis Homes development meetings in the on-site cabin - people up in arms - but falls on deaf ears - it’s always the same.

This has got to stop - Southwater residents are against the Berkeley Homes development - but they will get the go-ahead - why even bother asking residents what they think if no notice is taken!
