LETTER: New amenities were promised

Being a Broadbridge Heath resident can I ask why we never hear anything about the new amenities promised when the development at Broadbridge Heath was given the go-ahead?

We were told that there would be a doctors, new school, new football facilities for Broadbridge Heath Football Club, traffic calming for the old village and a new bypass.

So far none of this has come to light – even the bypass appears to be complete but hasn’t been opened.

The dignitaries got their jolly out to the ribbon cutting for a road that didn’t open though – taxpayers’ money at work!

All the Old Village residents hear are rumours. The latest are now that NONE of these promises are going to be kept due to a lack of money.

Why are we not being told what is happening? The new residents have had meetings about what is happening.

Is Horsham District Council just giving in to the developers and allowing them not to fulfil their responsibilities to the village (Old and New)?

Shame on you HDC, man up and fight for the residents – stop further development until the infrastructure is in place to accommodate the families that live here.

Children shouldn’t be without school places or forced to travel miles to continue their education. People should have access to local health care.

Our faith in the council comes from seeing you keep promises and fight for the residents - at the moment I have none.

If HDC backtracks any more, on anything, they’re at risk of falling into the sea.
