LETTER: Nasty surprise at the ballot box

I have been a member of the Horsham Indoor Bowling Club since it opened. The ignorance and arrogance of the Horsham District Council is appalling.

They have disregarded the much publicised concern expressed by the government and others in regard to the increasing number of older people in our community. These people will not just evaporate. There are said to be two certainties in life – death and taxes.

But there is a third – old age. It is recognised that an increasing number of older people are lonely.

Indoor bowls seeks to combat loneliness and HIBC provides an answer for its 400 or so members and over 100 members of the public belonging to various organisations who make use of the facility. Also, there are a youth group and at least two disability groups. These also are a national concern.

Is HDC not aware of the needs of these people? Perhaps like Peter Pan they do not think that growing old will apply to them. They will get a nasty surprise - possibly also through the ballot box.
