Mr Quin studiously avoids truly contentious issues facing us all – housing, affordable housing, infrastructure, erosion of the Strategic Gap – that will change forever the nature of this town – but he features photographed on virtually every page of this newspaper at soft meetings of children’s playgroups and ribbon cutting events.

Why do you give him half a page every week? Last week he told us he is on the select committee for work and pensions. Who cares when we look to this local paper for local issues?

Why not do what Mr Haughton suggests – give him the space on condition he talks about issues your readers are truly concerned about.
