LETTER: Long established British tradition

I can scarcely believe your report that a collector from the Royal British Legion was ejected from the Billingshurst railway station for trying to sell Poppies to commuters.

It is not acceptable that Southern Rail have simply said that they will speak to the person concerned about his ‘personal decision’.

They must name and shame this person who seems to be ignorant of what is a long established British tradition to remember our War Dead. He must be educated on the subject and required to give his ‘personal’ apology along with his reasons for his original ‘personal decision’!.

I also trust that Southern Rail will reimburse the RBL for any shortage in takings they experienced.
