LETTER: Exasperated by waste dumping in Copsale

I refer to the fly tipping of asbestos which I believe occurred in Copsale.

It is not just blue asbestos we have to worry about, it is now blue carpets. Whoever had their old blue carpet replaced with a nice new beige one, both the old carpet and off- cuts of new have been dumped at the other end of the parish in Park Lane.

This blatant anti-social behaviour leaves me exasperated especially when the proper means of disposal are so easy:

For a small fee a professional carpet fitter would have properly dealt with the waste.

For a small fee HDC would have collected it and disposed of it.

For a small amount of effort the culprit could just as easily taken it to the dump for free.

It just strikes me that no matter how easy it is to do the right thing there is a small minority who just cannot bring themselves to do it!

Like many other parishes up and down the country Nuthurst looks relatively litter-free.

This is not because the stuff isn’t dropped, it’s because local residents make it their business to clear it up!

There is something very wrong when there appears to be no shame attached to littering or fly tipping!
