LETTER: Development will cause traffic chaos

If your readers have any doubts about the traffic chaos that will be caused by HDC’s plan to develop North Horsham try driving from North Horsham down North Heath Lane or Rusper and Kings Road and the Harwood Road/North Street roundabout between 08.30am and 09.00am. Try getting to Littlehaven Halt after 08.00am. If it is like this now what will it be like in five years’ time?

Linkages into Horsham town centre which were examined in the Peter Brett Associates traffic report – conveniently mislaid by HDC and Mr Salter the Inspector at the recent Inquiry in Public – show the chaos that will ensue during and after construction of all these houses with their cars in the council’s flawed scheme.

These routes could not be improved to allow flow of traffic – even if there was capital for infrastructure. What impact will this have on town centre trade? Who can we hold accountable in May for this? Cllrs Dawe, Vickers, Croft and Rae.
