LETTER: Cost of various planning appeals

I read chief planning councillor, Claire Vickers’, letter (24.9.15, p36) regarding planning costs awarded against the department that she runs at Horsham District Council.

In her letter she failed to address that in Quarter 4 (2014/15) £347,619 in adverse costs were awarded against her department on planning appeals.

What about the other three Quarters? She offers no explanation for this in her letter but rather criticises Cllr Christian Mitchell for daring to raise the issue at a Scrutiny meeting considering this issue, which respected and long serving Cllr Leonard Crosbie’s Scrutiny Committee is now seized of investigating.

Using the phrase from Dr Richardson’s letter (‘7,000 permissions still not built’, 1.10.15) ‘parsimonious with the verite/actualite’ – I think it time that Cllr Ray Dawe came to the aid of Cllr Vickers and laid all their cards on the table giving us a full breakdown of the figures now?

Or is Cllr Crosbie’s Scrutiny Committee going to have to extract it from them over the coming weeks? The latter being much more time consuming and the delay not being in the interests of the taxpayer.
