I find I am among those who, having read Pedro Martins’ column in the October 8 edition, wonder what world he inhabits.

How could he write: ‘If there is any way we can reiterate some values into our world, our country or our street then there will be hope for a better future’?

In previous pages there was news of local students journeying to Africa to renovate a school, of those who had raised more than £10,000 for a charity.

He uses the word ‘hope’. I am writing in One World Week. This year’s theme is HOPE IN ACTION. An informative email which has just arrived concludes with a list of organisations which are associated with One World Week.

There are people in Horsham who are active members of those organisations because they believe their actions can make a difference and help to bring hope where there might otherwise be despair. With the welcome help of theCounty Times, news of some of this activity is being publicised.
