Dale Whitford General Manager at Billingshurst Leisure Centre says of the event “We are pleased to be supporting this great charity in memory of James. His family still regularly use the centre and have already raised money for one assistance dog. We would like to help them raise the money for a second dog and are aiming to raise £1000 throughout the week. We ask all of our customers to get behind the good cause, take part in something new and give generously”.

It costs £20,000 to train an assistance dog and change the life of injured service men and women. The dogs are trained to open doors, pick things up, collect cash from ATMs and many other everyday tasks that disabled people can find challenging. They also provide essential companionship and independence for their disabled partner. You can meet one of the Hounds for Heroes dogs at the leisure centre on Monday 27th January from 5pm.

These are just some of the activities on offer throughout the week.
