After much deliberation over the fantastic entries, the Design & Technology Department chose six teams to take part in Junior Masterchef on June 17. Students had to produce their own International inspired three course meal fit for the 2014 World Cup delegates, the menus served ranged from, Brazilian Pastel pies, spicy chicken kebabs, Italian polpetti and paella, to name just a few.

This year our judges were Tom Cornwell (Lecturer at Brooklands College and owner of Celebration Cakes in Cranleigh); Vivien Gillman (Organiser of the Rotary Young Chef Competition with a background in large scale catering in schools); Jim Charlesworth (23 years’ service as an army chef and catering developer in UK food companies) and last but not least, Jen Tompkins (Year 9 Head of Achievement).

“The quality of food was outstanding and the judges had a hard time choosing the winners. The overall winning team Will and George cooked three courses consisting of Chilled Spanish Gazpacho, Paella with King Prawns, Chorizo and Chicken and Rich Chocolate Torte with Fresh Raspberries. Well done to all participants and the winning team for their delicious winning menu.”
