Horsham Lifesavers finish off their summer program on a high and prepare for a busy autumn

Twenty six of these were taken at Southwater Lake and the rest at either Lancing Beach or Littlehampton Beach.

Added to this are the exams taken at The Pavilions and these continue through June and July as well as in the open water.

During the last few months 3 club members have successfully achieved the Distinction award which requires each person to pass a Life Support exam and then Bronze, Silver and Gold standard exams in 3 of the 4 disciplines of Pool, Stillwater, Beach and Sport. One member Emma Hatton went the whole way and got a clean sweep in all 4 stands.

These are the first Distinction awards gained by the Club since the introduction of the Survive and Save syllabus in late 2012 and are believed to be the first in Sussex.

Many of the exam successes this year have been with youngsters taking the courses as part of Duke of Edinburgh Scheme or as GCSE PE and well as those doing it simply to learn valuable survival and rescue skills.

The next new intake starts on the first week of October and anyone who wishes to participate should send in an Application Form copy of which is in the Club Notice Board at The Pavilions or can be down loaded from the club website www.horshamlivesavingclub.co. uk

The club will also be running another one night Baby Save Course for those who have babies or who care for babies.

Its objective is to teach people how to carry out basic resuscitation.

A First Aid At Work Course will also run on 4 Thursdays through October.
