On Friday organisers of the fayre, Tracy Smyth and Julie Mitchell, handed over a cheque for £252 to responders.

It is the sixth year the fayre has raised funds for HART with sales of art and craftworks.

Says Tracy: “We have always supported this vital organisation which has been so crucial in saving so many lives in the area.”

HART responders Sandra Parsons and Claire Greenfield gave lifesaving demonstrations during the fayre.

Chairman of HART Dick Nye said: “We are very grateful to all who took part in the fayre and have raised so much money over the years.”

HART volunteer responders on duty are alerted by the ambulance service if a 999 call is made and reach a casualty within minutes while an ambulance is on the way.

They are equipped with heart defibrillators which are deployed in the case of cardiac arrest, all paid for by public donations.
