Over 1,300 visitors attended the fair, which is organised by the volunteer committee of New Horizons Appeal on behalf of St Catherine’s Hospice.

The Preview Night was themed on Downton Abbey with volunteers and stallholders dressing the part and the High Sheriff of West Sussex, Jonathan Lucas, opening the fair as part of the NHA 25th Anniversary celebrations.

Bespoke Rallies brought a group of classic cars, which included the rare Boat Tail Rolls Royce, to the front of the large marquee for visitors to view and then joined the growing numbers inside the marquee where Knight Frank served chilled bubbles and volunteers floated through with smoked salmon canapés whilst the band played music of past eras.

The sun came out for Fair Day and so did visitors with a record number arriving during the first hour.

“When so many cars arrive you just know you are going to be able to raise a lot for the Hospice Appeal,” said volunteer organiser Sally Pavey.

Many visitors commented on how lovely the event was, super atmosphere, and how they had found really unusual things to buy as presents.

“Our volunteers worked so hard to keep pace with the numbers, the fair simply would not happen without their support,” said Sally.

Many people enjoyed lunch sat by Knepp Lake and then wandered over to the Castle to visit the gardens that were open this year to visitors.

“We have to thank so many people for making this fair possible, firstly Sir Charles and Lardy Burrell for allowing us to stage the fair at Knepp, and then to all our suppliers, supporters, our wonderful volunteers, and to all those that attended.

“The fair had such a wonderful atmosphere this year and everyone seems to have enjoyed the experience and left with bags full of shopping.”
