Golfers invited to ‘Go Wild’ for Horsham charity’s annual golf day

The event, which will take place on Thursday 3rd September at the spectacular Wildwood Golf and Country Club in Alfold, Surrey, will see golfers compete for the coveted ‘Pride Jacket’ as well as a host of other team and individual prizes. The day includes a full 18 holes on the Hawtree designed course, refreshments and a two-course lunch at the clubhouse, attended by Born Free’s President, Will Travers OBE.

Last year’s event raised over £6,000 for the charity’s compassionate conservation work, protecting vulnerable wildlife in the UK and around the world. This year, money raised will go directly to Born Free’s new appeal to build a sanctuary in Tuscany, for lonely and abused captive elephants, rescued from zoos and circuses throughout Europe.

Born Free’s Events and Fundraising Co-ordinator, Joanne Bartholomew, is hoping that local golfers will be inspired to sign-up again this year. She says: “This is the third year of our Go Wild Golf Day and we’re hoping 2015 will be the best event yet! Not only will players enjoy a great day of golf at one of the best courses in the area, they will also be competing against our own Born Free team – unmistakable in their bright orange shirts – who have been practicing hard since losing out to local team ‘Team Pantha’ last year.”

Places are still available for the event, which is being run in association with Tamron. Teams or individuals of varying skill and experience are invited to sign-up for just £60 per person, with a limited number of lunch only places available for those who prefer to spend their time at the 19th hole at just £25 each.
