Glebelands School winners in poster competition with help from Cranleigh Lions

For over 25 years UNICEF have been running an international poster competition for all students aged 11 to 14, to express their vision of peace.

The winner of the national competition visits the Houses of Parliament to receive a prize of US$500; whilst the winner of the international competition visits the United Nations building in New York to receive a prize of US$2,500. The theme for this year’s poster was ‘Our World, Our Future’.

For the past seven years Cranleigh Lions have generously funded Year 8 students at Glebelands to enter the competition by providing materials for all students; and, prize money for the top 3 entries.

Judged by Tony Oliver and Paul Withers from the Lions, 3rd prize of £20 went to Charlotte, 2nd prize of £30 to Ollie; and the 1st prize of £50 went to Amber. The competition was so close and of such a high standard that the judges decided to enter all 3 entries to the south east final.

Mr Malcolm Turley, Head of Art would like to express his gratitude to Cranleigh Lions for their continued support to students at Glebelands School.
